It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Professor Jan Maluszynski and passed away after fighting a fatal illness for over a year. Prof. Maluszynski was one of the pioneers of logic programming, with important contributions in a variety of aspects of the field, such as parallelism, annotations and assertions, negation, and debugging. Most recently, he made important contributions in the area of rules and ontologies. He served as the Program Chair of ILPS 1997 (Port Jefferson, NY).
He will be missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
